A word from our CEO
In 1978, Mr. Bernt Mannesson developed the first Swedish video magnifier: MagniVision. subsequent to that developmental breakthrough, he was the advocate for the foundation of LVI Low Vision International.
In the middle of the eighties, the first international leap forward was taken and subsidiaries were founded, first in Norway and shortly after in Belgium and also Denmark. Development was taken another step further with the production of the first color system called MagniLink 609. Even today the name MagniLink is used as a trademark of all our products.
In 1997, Olle Lindquist became CEO. At the same time, Low Vision International became certified according to ISO 9001:2000 for its quality management systems, and ISO 14001 for its environmental management. LVI was the first company in the industry that received such certification.
During the years that followed, Low Vision International introduced several new products. The popular MagniLink P opened the way for more success in product design. For example, LVI was in 2003 the first company to produce an easy and portable reading system with combined distance camera: MagniLink Student. Three years later, the system won the prestigious BETT Award in the category of "Special Educational Needs Hardware".
At the same time, the company was more recognized both nationally and internationally. Internationally, LVI opened up a new subsidiary in Switzerland, in 2003, and in 2008 LVI also started a subsidiary in Finland, so now LVI is represented in four Nordic countries. Nationally, LVI has been expanding and starting both sales offices in Umeå and in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. Today, the company has 40 employees. In the year of 2008, Low Vision International celebrates 30 years in the industry.
2009, Erik Bondemark was appointed as new CEO of LVI Low Vision International. Erik Bondemark succeeds Olle Lindquist, who will remain as chairman of the board.
